The Oakdale City Council approved a new Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan on November 14, 2023 following a two-year process that included engagement with Oakdale residents, businesses, City officials and staff. The new plan expands upon the vision of the City’s previous plan from 1995 and aims to create a safer and more connected pedestrian and bicycle network.

The project to update the plan was relaunched in 2022 after a pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the process, City staff conducted open houses, workshops and surveys to gauge the needs of community when it comes to walking and biking in Oakdale. Feedback collected helped shape the plan’s goals, strategies and recommendations.

Some of the Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan key recommendations include:

  • Maintaining Oakdale’s existing pedestrian and bicycle network.
  • Expanding the extent of the pedestrian and bicycle network in Oakdale.
  • Encouraging active travel in the City.
  • Informing the community about walking and biking options.
