The Fire Marshal oversees inspections on several City permits/licenses and manages the permitting process for several fire-related permits. Below are relevant links to applications with Fire Marshal involvement.
The City of Oakdale's Fire Marshal oversees the General Fire Safety Inspection Program. This program assists building owners, managers and occupants in identifying and resolving fire and safety issues that could cause injury to people or damage to property and businesses. Depending on your business type, your building will receive an inspection on an annual or triennial basis.
This inspection process consists of a walk-through of your business to determine if required life safety elements are in compliance with the 2020 Minnesota State Fire Code. Please note these inspections are unannounced. However, our staff will contact a business representative upon arriving on-site and prior to the inspection. Our staff will make every effort to not disrupt business operations during the inspection process.
The Fire Marshal and Inspections team's goal is to help assure businesses are in compliant with State Fire Code in order to create a safer community for all to enjoy. The City of Oakdale looks forward to your success and cooperation in this inspection program.
The Fire Marshal will also conduct inspections for short-term rental licenses through Washington County.
