Mystery Egg Hunt (Ages up to 10 Years)

The clever Easter Bunny has hidden eggs along the trails of the Oakdale Nature Preserve. We need kids to help find one and then exchange it for a very special surprise! The Easter Bunny also hides two golden eggs redeemable for extra special surprises! After hunting for eggs, enjoy games, refreshments, crafts, face painting, petting zoo, and great prizes! Don't miss this very popular event! Register by April 12. $12 per child, parents attend free!

Junior Master Gardeners: Seed Starting (Ages 12 and under)

Saturday, April 6 |10 – 11 AM | Discovery Center

Learn new techniques for growing your own flowers and vegetables from seed. Decorate a flower pot, select the seeds to plant, and then bring your plant home to watch it grow! Presented by Master Gardener of Washington County Jane Klein. Free.

"Spring" Storytime for Preschoolers

Wednesday, April 24 | 10:30 AM | Discovery Center

Join a librarian from the Oakdale Library for a special preschool story time! We will have fun talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together. We will focus on concepts such as counting, colors, sharing, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. A simple craft will follow. Mother's Day is just around the corner. What better way to celebrate than creating masterpieces with your child? Prepare for an evening filled with fun! You and your child will follow easy step-by-step instructions as you create matching floral paintings. Each mother and daughter will create their own masterpiece on a real canvas board. Register by May 2. $30 per child (includes mother).

Sundae Bingo

Sunday, April 14 | 1 - 3 PM | Discovery Center

What could be better than ice cream sundaes and 2 hours of bingo?! Join us for this fun filled, Sunday afternoon event. Make your own sundae while shouting out BINGO! Prizes are awarded to winners every game; every participant eligible for two game-winning prizes. All participants will be eligible for the Grand Prize raffle drawing at the end of the event (must be present to win the raffle). All ages welcomed! Register by April 8. $8.

Park Clean Up Week

April 22 - 26 | Choose Your Date and Time | Choose Your Desired Park

Help rid our City of Oakdale parks of the debris and clutter that has accumulated over the winter months by volunteering during Park Clean Up Week! Businesses, scout groups, schools, daycare centers and civic groups are encouraged to participate. Garbage bags are provided and each participant will receive a complimentary thank you gift. To volunteer, please call Oakdale Recreation at 651-747-3860.

Oakdale Nature Preserve Community Walk

Must be Oakdale Resident | Beginning April 1, through October 31 | Oakdale Nature Preserve

Walk your way to less stress, lower weight, better health, and great rewards! It’s easy! Oakdale residents of all ages can participate. Walk the 220 acre preserve as much as possible, with the ultimate goal of reaching a total of 200 miles to earn a $40 gift card from Target, Hy-Vee, Kwik Trip or Fleet Farm. Sign up with your ID (to verify your Oakdale residency) at the Oakdale Discovery Center before your first walk.

Chicken Keeping

Session 1: Saturday, April 13, at 11 AM | Session 2: Thursday, April 18, at 6:30 PM | Discovery Center

Learn everything you need to know about keeping chickens, such as coop construction, chicken comfort, safety, sanitation, and doing it all with minimum expense by using ordinary materials and equipment. Program for those considering raising chickens as well as those who are raising chickens. Instructor Les Larson has raised chickens, pigeons, and doves for many years. Les will be available for a half-hour after class to take questions. Free.

Oakdale Walks! Launch

Saturday, April 13 | 2 – 3:30 PM | Discovery Center

Launch of our new walking initiative: Oakdale Walks! Let's See How Far We Can Go! The kick-off party will include treats, door prizes, maps, pedometers and surprises. Walk Across Minnesota is a fun way to form walking groups, explore Oakdale, and compete for bragging rights. Our fitness expert will demonstrate safe warm-up exercises. Bring friends and family of all ages and abilities. The more the merrier! Free.

Yoga and Meditation for Better Sleep

Sunday, April 14 | 6 – 7:30 PM | Discovery Center

Sleep is critical to good health but many of us have trouble falling asleep and/or staying asleep. This workshop will focus on yoga, meditation and lifestyle techniques to help you get better sleep. You will learn soothing breathing techniques, gentle yoga movements for your body, and meditations to help relax your busy mind. Additionally, we will discuss lifestyle and diet tips to move you toward better rhythm with your natural sleep cycle. Register by April 8. $28.

ViniYoga

Discovery Center

ViniYoga is a therapeutic style of yoga which adapts to the needs of each student. Classes will include a blend of gentle yoga postures, breathing, and simple meditations to help the body build strength and flexibility while remaining steady and comfortable. Beginners are welcome as are those who have practiced yoga before and all students are encouraged to move at their own pace. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat.
