Valentine's Day Family Skate and Paint

Saturday, February 14 | 12 to 2 PM | Walton Park Pleasure Rink

Join us for a free Valentine’s event for the whole family! This afternoon of fun includes skating, painting the rink with themed colors, treats, hot cocoa and crafts. The warming house will remain open until 8 PM.

Snow Sculpture of Oakdale Contest

Submissions accepted until March 31 | Contest limited to Oakdale residents only

Head outside and create a snow masterpiece! This year’s theme is “Favorite Animal or Pet.” The winner receives a special reward gift basket. Email photo entries, name and address to nathan.timmons@oakdalemn.gov.

Snowshoe Rentals

Pending Snow Conditions | Discovery Center Open Hours 

Bring friends and family for daily snowshoeing in the Nature Preserve. Rate is $6 (tax included) for two hours, cash or check only on weekends, with child and adult sizes available. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM; Saturday, 12 to 3:30 PM; and Sunday, 1 to 3:30 PM.

Family Moonlight Snowshoe and Bonfire

Saturday, February 28 | 6 to 8:30 PM | Discovery Center

Spend time with friends and family on a fun winter workout with Wahoo! Adventures. Trek two luminary-lit trails, one short and one longer, through the Nature Preserve. Afterwards, enjoy a movie, s’mores, hot dogs and hot chocolate inside. Snowshoes provided or bring your own. Bring a headlamp if desired and dress in layers with sturdy boots. Please note, children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. $25 per person. Registration deadline is February 21.

Library Story Time "Arctic Animals"

Wednesday, February 25 | 10:30 AM | Discovery Center

We’ll have fun talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together with a Washington County Youth Librarian. We will focus on concepts such as counting, colors, sharing, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. A simple craft will follow.

A free program recommended for developmental ages 0 to 5 and their grown-ups.

ACTIVITIES FOR ADULTS

Astro and Sound Sessions

Select Dates | Discovery Center

Wellness practitioner Kali Higgins leads several sound healing and vibrational sound therapy sessions to support people in shifting their consciousness to allow the mind to go to deeper states of meditation and relaxation. Each session will use various instruments and sounds in harmony with the Full Moon to expand participants’ intentions of the practice. Session includes time to discuss and connect with the instructor about the theme, gentle breathwork and settling in, and 50 minutes of sound healing. Bring any items to support a comfortable practice such as a mat, blanket, pillows, zero-gravity chair, eye mask/covering, journal and water bottle. More info about programs on registration site. $36 per class (ages 18 and up).

MORNING YOGA | TUESDAYS | 9:30 to 10:30 AM 

Rise and shine with intention. Experience a customizable and dynamic yoga practice designed to build strength, develop balance, and increase mobility and mindfulness. This all-levels class encourages participants to move at their own pace to explore shapes in a safe and sustainable way that will support a healthy range of motion and a more fulfilling practice experience.  

•    Spring Session 1 | 5 weeks | $89 | March 3, 10, 24, 31, April 7 (No class March 17)    


TWILIGHT YOGA | THURSDAYS | 6 to 7 PM

Wind down your day in the glow of twinkling lights. Explore a gentler flow designed to melt away tension with mindful movements to increase strength, balance, flexibility and relaxation in a sustainable way. This all-levels class will illuminate your intentions and calm your nervous system with minimal weight-bearing on the wrists to prepare you for a good night sleep.

•    Spring Session 1 | 5 weeks | $89 | March 5, 12, 26, April 2, 9 (No class March 19)  


Registration deadline is prior to start of session. Drop-in for a single class is $20 if space is available (please arrive at least ten minutes before class begins, cash/check only on weeknights).

Zumba

Tuesdays | March 10 to April 14 (no class March 31) | 6:30 to 7:30 PM | Age 16 and up | Discovery Center

“Zumba with Sadie” is a dynamic, full-body dance workout designed for people of all fitness levels to get out and move their bodies. Dance to music styles from around the globe including Latin, Caribbean, SoCa, African, Salsa, Bollywood, Calypso, Hip-Hop and Pop. Sadie is a licensed group fitness instructor and can sign off on participation for employer heath incentive and wellness programs. $65 per session (5 weeks). Register before the deadline on March 3.

Oakdale Wellness 50+

Oakdale Wellness 50+ is a volunteer initiative making Oakdale and Washington County healthier by offering health-focused activities for persons 50 and over that lead to measurably improved wellness. 

Oakdale Wellness 50+ is supported by Washington County, the City of Oakdale, and the Vital Aging Network (VAN).

WALKS AT THE OAKDALE NATURE PRESERVE | Wednesdays at 10 AM | No registration is necessary to join these weekly walks. Meet in front of the Discovery Center.

AGING WITH GUSTO | Tuesdays, February 10 and 17 | 12 to 3 PM | We are excited to host the Vital Aging Network’s Aging with Gusto program, a two-part series of interactive presentations to help develop positive perceptions of aging: How to age with gusto, respond to ageism, and live your best life at every age. Refreshments provided. Register online or by calling 651-747-3860.

CRAFT SOCIALS WITH NICKI FISCHER | Sunday, February 15 | 1:30 to 3:30 PM | Come show off your crafts, see crafts from others, or learn a something new. Refreshments provided. Register online or by calling 651-747-3860.
