Current and Planned Work

Area 1: Upper 5th Street N (Greenway Avenue N to Grovner Avenue N), 5th Street N, and 5th Street Court N)

  • Concrete curb and driveway aprons are now complete.
  • The first layer of asphalt was completed on Wednesday, August 6.
  • For residents with an asphalt driveway, the gravel area between the new concrete apron and the existing asphalt driveway will be patched on Friday, August 8. Residents will be able to drive onto the freshly patched area as soon as it is rolled, which is immediately after the asphalt is laid down. However, there will be a brief period when access to driveways is temporarily restricted. Please be patient with the crew as they will be working as fast as they can to regain access to driveways.
  • The contractor will raise all the manholes and valves to their proposed elevations starting on Saturday, August 9. Please drive with care as most of the manholes they’re working on are in the center of the street.
  • Restoration and topsoil of all disturbed areas will start on Wednesday, August 13.

Area 2: 6th Street N, 4th Street N, 3rd Street N, Grenadier Avenue N, and Gresham Avenue N

  • The contractor will tentatively start street light work on Tuesday, August 19.

Area 3: 1st Street North and Greystone Avenue N

  • The removal and replacement of the water main is complete. The contractor will be going house to house to get everyone off temporary water and back on City water.
  • Work on the new sand and gravel section is currently taking place. Currently, a lot of heavy equipment and trucks are running along the streets. Please drive with care and be patient as there will be a brief period when access to driveways is restricted due to the work. The contractor is responsible for regaining access to driveways by the end of each workday during this time. This should be completed by Monday, August 11.
  • Concrete curb and driveway aprons are tentatively planned to start on Thursday, August 14. Residents will be notified later this week with more information on schedule and parking.

Area 4: Grovner Avenue N and Upper 5th Street N (Grovner Avenue N to Hadley Avenue N)

  • The first layer of asphalt is complete.
  • Fore residents with an asphalt driveway, the gravel area between the new concrete apron and the existing asphalt driveway will be patched on Friday, August 8.

Reminders

As construction progresses, please use caution traveling within the project area. Also, please do not park vehicles on the street from 7 AM to 7 PM within the project area unless instructed to by the contractor to accommodate driveway work. This will help the contractor to work more efficiently and will create a safer work zone. Thank you, as always, for your ongoing patience and cooperation.
