Current and Planned Work
Area 1: Upper 5th Street N (Greenway Avenue N to Grovner Avenue N), 5th Street N, and 5th Street Court N)
- Replacement of water main services has begun on Upper 5th Street N. This should be completed by the end of the week.
- 5th Street N and 5th Street Court N will have water services replaced starting early next week.
- Once all water main services have been replaced, the contractor will begin excavating the entire street to install a new City-standard gravel and sand section in the roadway. This should begin mid-next week on Upper 5th Street N. The contractor is responsible for keeping access to driveways. However, there will be brief periods where equipment or digging is happening directly in front of driveways. Please be patient as this work takes place.
- There will be curb stakes installed on Upper 5th Street N, 5th Street N, and 5th Street Court N on Tuesday, July 1. Please do not disturb these stakes, as they are essential for curb location and elevation.
- Placement of concrete curb and driveway aprons is planned for mid-July. Residents will receive more information regarding access and parking before that time.
Area 2: 6th Street N, 4th Street N, 3rd Street N, Grenadier Avenue N, and Gresham Avenue N
- Placement of new concrete curb and driveway aprons is complete.
- Grading and tolerancing of the road in preparation for asphalt is currently being performed. This should be completed by Saturday, June 28.
- The first layer of asphalt roadway is tentatively planned for Monday, June 30. This is schedule and weather dependent. Please note that vehicles can drive on the new asphalt surface once it is rolled by rollers. The rollers are usually 5 to 15 minutes behind the paver. Thank you for your patience as the street is paved.
- Topsoil and restoration work of all disturbed areas will begin immediately after the paving is completed.
- Residents with asphalt driveways will have the gaps between driveway and apron patched with asphalt before the 4th of July holiday weekend.
Area 3: 1st Street North and Greystone Avenue N
- Work is now tentatively planned to begin the third week in July.
Area 4: Grovner Avenue N and Upper 5th Street N (Grovner Avenue N to Hadley Avenue N)
- Work is now tentatively planned to begin the third week in July.
Reminders
As construction progresses, please use caution traveling within the project area. Also, please do not park vehicles on the street from 7 AM to 7 PM within the project area unless instructed to by the contractor to accommodate driveway work. This will help the contractor to work more efficiently and will create a safer work zone. Thank you, as always, for your ongoing patience and cooperation.
