Each summer, the City of Oakdale provides weekly construction updates on the annual Street Improvement Program projects. For more information on this year's projects, visit the City of Oakdale Engineering Projects webpage.

Construction has begun on this year’s Street Improvement Project. The contractor has split the project into four areas for coordination and scheduling. Project Map

- Area 2:  6th Street N, 4th Street N, 3rd Street N, Grenadier Avenue N, and Gresham Avenue N
- Area 3:  1st Street North and Greystone Avenue N
- Area 4:  Grovner Avenue N and Upper 5th Street N (Grovner Avenue N to Hadley Avenue N)

Improvements on Phase 1 and Phase 3 include the removal and replacement of water main and services, miscellaneous storm sewer repairs, curb and gutter replacement, driveway apron replacement, new gravel and sand section, full asphalt replacement, and street light replacement.

The improvements in Phase 2 include all the following except 4th Street N: miscellaneous storm and sanitary and water main repairs, full curb and gutter replacement with new driveway aprons, new gravel and sand section, full asphalt replacement, and street light replacement. Work on 4th Street N will have spot curb replacement, and miscellaneous storm and water main repairs, full asphalt replacement, and lighting replacement.

The improvements in Phase 4 include spot curb replacement, miscellaneous storm and water main repairs, full asphalt replacement, and lighting replacement.

McNamara Contracting is the contractor for this project. They have successfully completed many similar local projects. All project work is scheduled to be completed by the end of September.

Current and Planned Work

Area 1: Upper 5th Street N (Greenway Avenue N to Grovner Avenue N), 5th Street N, and 5th Street Court N)
- Mainline water main work is complete on Upper 5th Street N. Replacement of water main services will begin after the mainline water main work is completed on 5th Street N and 5th Street Court N.
- Residents on 5th Street and 5th Street Court N are on temporary water as mainline water main work is being performed. This should be completed by mid-next week.
- Once all water main services have been replaced, the contractor will begin excavating the entire street to install a new city standard gravel and sand section in the roadway.
- The contractor is responsible for keeping access to your driveways. However, there will be brief periods where equipment or digging is happening directly in front of driveways. Please be patient as this work takes place.
- There will also be spot curb replacement happening Friday (June 20) and Monday (June 23) on Upper 5th Street N from Grovner Avenue N to Hadley Avenue N. This will not affect driveway access.

Area 2: 6th Street N, 4th Street N, 3rd Street N, Grenadier Avenue N, and Gresham Avenue N
- Placement of new concrete curb and driveway aprons will begin Thursday (June 19). Once curb is poured in front of driveways, driveways cannot be used for 5 days until they cure. Property owners may park in front of a home after the curb is poured. Crews went house-to-house Tuesday talking to residents and handing out notices on doors. Please review this letter as it has information on parking and the timeline of the concrete pouring process.
- Please do not move curb stakes as they provide critical information for placement of the curb.
- The contractor will begin tolerancing (grading) the roadway in preparation for the first layer of asphalt planned for the end of the month.

Area 3: 1st Street North and Greystone Avenue N
- Work is tentatively planned to begin the second week in July.

Area 4: Grovner Avenue N and Upper 5th Street N (Grovner Avenue N to Hadley Avenue N)
- Work is tentatively planned to begin the second week in July.

Reminders

As construction progresses, please use caution traveling within the project area. Also, please do not park vehicles on the street from 7 AM to 7 PM within the project area unless instructed to by the contractor to accommodate driveway work. This will help the contractor to work more efficiently and will create a safer work zone. Thank you, as always, for your ongoing patience and cooperation.
