Construction Bid Awarded
At its August 14 meeting, the Oakdale City Council awarded the project bid to Kraus-Anderson Construction Company to begin construction of the new Public Works facility.
Construction is expected to begin October 7, 2024 with earthwork to grade the site for the building. Building erection will begin in late-fall 2024 and continue through the winter. Project completion is anticipated in October 2025.
The project is being delivered using the Construction Manager-at-Risk process. This process includes the Construction Manager under contract for a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP). The project Construction Manager Kraus-Anderson Construction Company provided the City with a Guaranteed Maximum Price of $24,383,980.
Other “soft” costs such as architectural fees, inspection fees, equipment, furniture, technology and all components of the security system are not included in the GMP. With soft costs added, the total project budget is $31,392,323.
The primary source of revenue for this project is funds collected from the voter-approved sales and use tax. This will raise $22 million for the project. The City is asking for an extension of time to collect an additional $6 million from the voters during the 2024 General Election. The cost of the project will continue to be shared with non-residents using City infrastructure while visiting Oakdale. The remainder of the funding will come from City bonding, grants, and reimbursements from 3M for environmental work.
