Swing around to the Discovery Center’s backyard amphitheater for free programs for all ages.

Touch-A-Truck

Tuesday, September 10 | 5 to 7 PM | Oakdale City Hall Parking Lot 

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to get up close with dozens of big vehicles including emergency and public safety vehicles, snow plows, garbage trucks, street cleaners, semi-trucks and more. Free ice cream treats will be provided. Concessions will be available for purchase. A sensory tent will provide a safe, non-stimulating space for children.

Family Fun Flatables

Saturday, September 14 | 11 AM to 4 PM | Walton Park

Jump, bounce, dive and explore a sea of over a dozen inflatables including bounce castles, obstacle course and a giant slide. There will also be food available for purchase and a kids DJ. A sensory tent will provide a safe, non-stimulating space for children.

Farmers Market

Wednesdays through October 9 | 2 to 6 PM | Oakdale City Hall Parking Lot

Shop fresh and local at the Oakdale Farmers Market for an array of fresh produce, sweets, meats and more from local vendors on Wednesdays throughout the summer. Food trucks also attend regularly.

Library Story Time

Select Wednesdays | 10:30 AM | Discovery Center
 
A Washington County Youth Librarian will be visiting for a special preschool story time! We’ll have fun talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together. We will focus on concepts such as counting, colors, sharing, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. A simple craft will follow. A free program recommended for developmental ages 0 to 5 and their grown-ups.

ACTIVITIES FOR ADULTS

Adult Yoga

Oakdale welcomes Jen Vail, registered yoga teacher, trainer and certified Pilates instructor, to the Discovery Center! Jen was most recently the director and founder of YogaFresh in Woodbury, MN from 2007-2023. Her unique offerings have different focus areas and are accessible for all experience levels. She strives to create a non-judgmental, fun and safe environment to explore the benefits of yoga, barre and Pilates. Learn more at http://www.jenvail.com/. 

Registration deadline is prior to class/session start. Drop-in for a single class is $20 if space is available. Please arrive at least ten minutes prior to class when dropping in. 

Morning Yoga | Thursdays | 6 to 7 PM

  • Fall Session 1: October 1 to 29 | 5 weeks | $85

Rise and shine with intention. Experience a customizable and dynamic yoga practice designed to build strength, develop balance, and increase mobility and mindfulness. This all-levels class encourages participants to move at their own pace to explore shapes in a safe and sustainable way that will support a healthy range of motion and a more fulfilling practice experience.

Twilight Yoga | Thursdays | 6 to 7 PM

  • Fall Session 1: September 26 to October 17 | 4 weeks | $69

Wind down your day with a gentle flow to melt away stress in the glow of twinkling lights. This all-levels class will illuminate your intention and calm the nervous system with flowing movements designed to improve balance, strength and flexibility in a sustainable way. Enjoy the outdoors in the comfort of being indoors and without bugs, humidity and sand.

Pop-Up Fall Equinox Yoga, Meditation and Journaling Mini Retreat | Thursday, September 19 | 6:30 to 8 PM $35

As Mother Nature establishes an equilibrium between both day and night, we'll gather together to honor the Fall Equinox, a time of balance, abundance and gratitude. Throughout the mini retreat, you'll explore a variety of yoga, meditation/yoga nidra, and journaling to cultivate a deeper sense of harmony and well-being.
 
This retreat is suitable for yogis of all levels, from beginners to experienced practitioners. Whether you're looking to deepen your practice, reconnect with nature, or simply unwind and recharge your spirit, this event offers something for everyone.
 
Your registration includes: All Levels hatha yoga, guided nidra/meditation and a special journaling experience with a seasonal journal for you to keep (included in your registration). Space is limited and pre-registration is required to attend

Saturday, September 28 | 10 AM to 12 PM | Discovery Center

Buckthorn is an invasive species harming native habitats. Learn how to identify common types of buckthorn and removal techniques including chemical and chemical-free methods. Washington County Master Gardeners will lead and provide a hands-on demo. Dress for the weather.

Painting Class | Charming Scarecrow

Friday, October 4 | 11 AM to 2 PM | Discovery Center

Join local artist Sandy Danus of Cheerful Hearts Studio as she leads you through a fun and inviting, acrylic paint class. Learn a new skill and have a great time! All supplies are included and our cheerful, step by step instruction is easy to follow, even if you have never picked up a paint brush before. Come away with your own beautiful finished canvas creation that you can be proud of. Deadline to register is September 27. Cost is $35 for 10 x 20 canvas.

Adult Trip: Cranberry Country Tour

Wednesday, October 9 | 8 AM to 6:30 PM | Trip departs from Gladstone Center in Maplewood

Explore the enchanting world of cranberries on our Cranberry Country Tour. Join us for a journey to Warrens, Wisconsin, where you’ll indulge in a delightful lunch at Discovery Cranberries & Cranberry Country Cafe. Then, dive into the rich history of cranberry cultivation with a guided tour of the Discover Cranberries museum. Afterward, we’ll visit Wetherby Cranberry Marsh for the Berry Best Tour, where you can purchase fresh cranberries at the packing facility. Our day concludes with a stop at Menomonie Creamery for cheese and snacks (on your own). A $5 processing fee will be deducted from refund when canceling on or before September 16. No refunds given after the deadline. $119 per person, includes transportation.

Oakdale Wellness 50+

Oakdale Wellness 50+ is a volunteer initiative making Oakdale and Washington County healthier by offering health-focused activities for persons 50 and over that lead to measurably improved wellness. 

Oakdale Wellness 50+ is supported by Washington County, the City of Oakdale, and the Vital Aging Network (VAN).

Walks at the Oakdale Nature Preserve | Wednesdays at 9 AM 
No registration is necessary to join these weekly walks. Meet in front of the Discovery Center. 

Play Mahjongg | Mondays at 1 PM 
Join us to play Mahjongg. No sign up needed.
