FAMILY FUN ACTIVITIES

Wednesdays through October 9 | 2 to 6 PM | Oakdale City Hall Parking Lot

Shop fresh and local at the Oakdale Farmers Market for an array of fresh produce, sweets, meats and more from local vendors on Wednesdays throughout the summer. Food trucks also attend regularly.

Select Wednesdays | 10 to 11 AM | Discovery Center Backyard Amphitheater

Swing around to the Discovery Center’s backyard amphitheater for free programs for all ages.

Program will be held indoors in the event of inclement weather.

Kayaks ready to launch

SilverFinn Kayaking

Paddle locally on one of Minnesota's 10,000 lakes by choosing one of these great upcoming adventures offered by SilverFinn Kayaking.

Strawberry Full Moon Kayak | Friday, July 12 (rescheduled from June 21) | 7:30 to 9 PM | Square Lake, Stillwater

This moonlight paddle includes time on the water and fresh strawberries and lemonade on shore. Kayaks, equipment and life jackets are provided. Bring a flashlight, bug spray, and dress for the weather and water. Wear shoes that can get wet. Park vehicle permit required ($7 daily).  $30 per person per single kayak, or $15 with own kayak. Must be at least 12 years old to participate. Register to kayak before the deadline on July 7.

Grab your suit and towel to beat the heat! Oakdale Fire will bring the water. Run through a fire hose spray, toss water balloons and play water games.

Friday, July 19 | Movies begin at dusk | Walton Park

Round up the kids, some lawn chairs or a blanket, and enjoy a night under the stars as your favorite movie plays on the big screen at the band shell. Sponsored by the Oakdale Police and Recreation Departments. Concessions provided by Maplewood Oakdale Lions Club.

Sundae Bingo

Sunday, July 21 | 1 to 3 PM | Discovery Center

What could be better than ice cream sundaes and two hours of bingo!? Make your own ice cream sundae while shouting out BINGO! Prizes are awarded to winners of every game; every participant eligible for two game winning prizes. All participants will be eligible for the grand prize raffle drawing at the end of the event (must be present to win the raffle). All ages welcome! $10 per person. Registration deadline is July 15.

Campers play games, create arts and crafts, and participate in special events for each weekly theme. 

July 8 to 11: Creepy Crawlers at Oakdale Nature Preserve, 4609 Granada Ave N - Registration deadline extended to July 7!

July 15 to 18: Camp Superhero at Walton Park South Shelter, 1584 Hadley Avenue

July 22 to 25: Splashtacular at Eberle Park, 3888 Hadley Avenue

July 29 to August 1: Gone Campin' at Oakfield Park, 4722 Helmo Avenue

ITS Truck

In the Streets: ITS Truck

The ITS Truck will be in the streets and at a park near you this summer! The ITS Truck will operate Monday to Thursday with two stops per day. These drop-in recreation programs are FREE, and no registration is needed. Check out the new schedule for 2024!

3rd Lair Skateboard Camp (Ages 7+)

July 15 to 17 | 10 to 11 AM | Walton Park

The 3rd Lair skateboard camp program has been part of Minnesota skateboarding development for 26 years providing experienced, well-trained instructors with a proven reputation for success. Each day includes group instruction where riders will work on skill development based on the incoming experience of the individuals in the group and their overall comfort and pacing. Participants should wear closed-toed athletic footwear with no raised heels and bring a skateboard, helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards. 3rd Lair will provide safety equipment and rentals for kids without gear. Registration required by July 8. $75.

Basketball Camp (Ages 6 to 13)

July 22 to 25 | 9 AM to 12 PM | Walton Park

This fun, skill-intensive camp is tailored for beginner to intermediate players. The progression-based curriculum goes beyond the game, emphasizing sportsmanship and teamwork. Participants will delve into fundamentals of passing, shooting, ball-handling, rebounding and defense through skill-based drills and games. Join us for a holistic basketball experience where fun meets skill development! Registration required by July 18. $139.

Horseback Riding at Bunker Park Stable (Ages 8 to 16)

Friday, August 2 | 10 AM to 2:30 PM | Depart and Return at Discovery Center

Travel to Bunker Park Stable for a day of riding horses. The trip departs from the Discovery Center and includes horseback ride, barn tour, horse grooming, chaperone and transportation. Participants must be at least eight years old and at least 52 inches tall, no exceptions. You must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes (no shorts or sandals). Bring a nut-free bagged lunch. Space is limited. Register before the deadline on July 26. $75.

Library Story Time | "Numbers"

Wednesday, July 31 | 10:30 AM | Discovery Center
 
A Washington County Youth Librarian will be visiting for a special preschool story time! We’ll have fun talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together. We will focus on concepts such as counting, colors, sharing, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. A simple craft will follow. A free program recommended for developmental ages 0 to 5 and their grown-ups.

Jars, gems, glitter and color to create candles

KidCreate Studio: Reveal Candle Making (Ages 9 to 14)

Friday, August 2 | 1 to 2:30 PM | Discovery Center

Craft unique candles, infused with your favorite scents, colors, and hidden surprises. Add delightful charms into the warm wax, to transform the candle into a stunning masterpiece as the flame slowly burns down and reveals the secret treasures waiting to be discovered within. The possibilities are endless, from sparkling jewels and glittery gems to adorable animals! At the end of this class, your child will have a one-of-a-kind candle! Please pack a drink and nut free snack for your child. Deadline to register is July 26. $45.

Adult Yoga

Oakdale welcomes Jen Vail, registered yoga teacher, trainer and certified Pilates instructor, to the Discovery Center! Jen was most recently the director and founder of YogaFresh in Woodbury, MN from 2007-2023. Her unique offerings have different focus areas and are accessible for all experience levels. She strives to create a non-judgmental, fun and safe environment to explore the benefits of yoga, barre and Pilates. Learn more at http://www.jenvail.com/. 

Registration deadline is prior to class/session start. Drop-in for a single class is $20 if space is available. Please arrive at least ten minutes prior to class when dropping in.

Rise and shine with intention. Experience a customizable and dynamic yoga practice designed to build strength, develop balance, and increase mobility and mindfulness. This all-levels class encourages participants to move at their own pace to explore shapes in a safe and sustainable way that will support a healthy range of motion and a more fulfilling practice experience.

Wind down your day with a gentle flow to melt away stress in the glow of twinkling lights. This all-levels class will illuminate your intention and calm the nervous system with flowing movements designed to improve balance, strength and flexibility in a sustainable way. MEET OUR NATURE PRESERVE TREES | Wednesday, July 10 | 9 to 11 AM | Learn about your favorite trees on a guided hike along the Tree Trek with Tree Board members Mike Bender and Marge Sagstetter. No registration necessary. Meet in front of the Discovery Center.
