2024 OAKDALE

Street Improvement Project Update

JUNE 6, 2024

Each summer, the City of Oakdale provides weekly construction updates on the annual Street Improvement Program projects. For more information on this year's projects, visit the City of Oakdale Engineering Projects webpage.

Construction has begun on this year’s Street Improvement Project. The contractor has split the project into four areas for coordination and scheduling.

- Area 1:  46th Street N, 47th Street N, 48th Street N and 49th Street N (From Hadley Avenue N to the East) Area 1 Map
- Area 2:  Hadley Avenue N from 40th Street N to 50th Street N Area 2 Map
- Area 3:  Oakdale Nature Preserve Trail Reconstruction Area 3 Map
- Area 4:  North Fire Station Parking Lot Reconstruction Area 4 Map

Improvements on Hadley Avenue N include miscellaneous storm sewer repairs, spot curb and gutter replacement, full asphalt replacement, street light replacement and bike trail reconstruction on the west side of Hadley Avenue N.

The improvements in the residential areas east of Hadley Avenue N include miscellaneous storm, sanitary and water main repairs, spot curb and gutter replacement, street light replacement and full asphalt pavement replacement.

Dresel Contracting is the contractor for this project. They have successfully completed many similar local projects. All project work is scheduled to be completed by the end of September.

Current and Planned Work

Area 1: 46th Street N, 47th Street N, 48th Street N and 49th Street N (From Hadley Avenue N to the East)
- The remaining spot curb and gutter removal and replacement is scheduled to be completed tomorrow (Friday, June 7) in Area 1.
- The asphalt street surfacing has been removed. The contractor will continue to shape the remaining aggregate surface and remove any excess material through early next week.
- The street will be toleranced for paving next Wednesday, June 12. There will be no on-street parking during this process.
- The initial base lift of asphalt is scheduled tentatively for next Thursday and Friday (June 13 and 14). You will be able to drive on the new asphalt as soon as it is rolled (within 10 to 15 minutes of it being paved). Again, there will be no on street parking during the paving process.
- Topsoil and sod crews will be in the area to restore any disturbed areas once the base lift of asphalt is complete.
- For those with irrigation damage, the contractor has scheduled an irrigation crew on Monday, June 10 to fix any damaged or broken heads/lines due to the curb removal process. Do not hire your own contractor to fix your irrigation issues, as the City will not be reimbursing residents for doing so.

Area 2: Hadley Avenue N (40th Street N to 50th Street N)
- Spot utility repairs will begin next week. Please be mindful of additional traffic control and construction crews while driving through the area.
- Spot curb repair on the east side of Hadley is scheduled to begin mid next week. Please be mindful of additional traffic control and temporary traffic lane shifts while driving through the area.

Area 3: Oakdale Nature Preserve Trail Reconstruction
- Work is planned to start after July 8.

Area 4: North Fire Station Parking Lot Reconstruction
- Parking lot surface removals are tentatively scheduled for the latter part of next week. Emergency vehicles will have access to the building during this process.

Reminders

As construction progresses, please use caution traveling within the project area. Also, please do not park vehicles on the street from 7 AM to 7 PM within the project area unless instructed to by the contractor to accommodate driveway work. This will help the contractor to work more efficiently and will create a safer work zone. Thank you, as always, for your ongoing patience and cooperation.
