Current and Planned Work
Area 1: Glenbrook Area (9th Street N, Gershwin Avenue, Glenbrook Avenue)
- All water main pipe is installed now on Gershwin Avenue. The services to each house are complete from 9th to 10th Street. The new main from 7th to 9th Street is now being tested. Service installation should begin in the next couple of days and will take about three days to complete.
- The grading crew plans to begin excavation on Gershwin Avenue from 9th to 10th Street next week. The top two feet of the roadway soil is being removed and replaced with a clean sandy soil to create a stronger and more drainable road subgrade. The salvaged gravel will then be replaced on top of the sand. This excavation will continue from 7th to 9th Street after the water service installation is complete. There is about a week of total grading to do on Gershwin Avenue.
- New concrete curbing will be installed after all gravel is placed on both 9th Street and Gershwin Avenue. This is planned for the week of July 31.
- Temporary above ground water supply is being installed now on Glenbrook Avenue, and water main installation is planned for the week of July 24 after the crew is done on Gershwin Avenue.
Area 2: Hydram Area (Cardinal Meadows Neighborhood)
- The first layer of asphalt was paved this week.
- Castings are being adjusted to their final elevation in preparation for the final layer of asphalt.
- Topsoil has been placed in the disturbed boulevard areas and sodding is planned for next Monday and Tuesday.
- The final layer of asphalt is planned to be paved at the end of next week or early the following week.
Area 3: Helmo Avenue Area (Helmo Avenue Bay N and Upper 26th Street N)
- The first layer of asphalt was paved this week.
- Castings are being adjusted to their final elevation in preparation for the final layer of asphalt.
-Topsoil has been placed in the disturbed boulevard areas and sodding is planned for next Monday and Tuesday.
- The final layer of asphalt is planned to be paved at the end of next week or early the following week.
Area 4: 4Front Area (High Point Drive, Hopkins Place, 36th Street N)
- High Point Drive is now closed at County Road 14 (34th Street) and traffic is detoured via County Road 13 (Ideal Avenue).
- The pavement on High Point Drive and Hopkins Place has been reclaimed into gravel for reuse on the project. Spot curb repairs are now being done in this area and a new left turn lane is being installed on High Point Drive. The first layer of asphalt is planned to be paved here early the week of July 31.
- Most 36th Street work is planned to be done after the above work is completed and the detour is removed. Some spot curb repairs may begin before then.
Area 5: 56th Street N
- Work is planned to start here in mid-August. Some work may be done at night to minimize access disruptions.
