Amped Up Entertainment

Select Thursdays | 10 AM | Discovery Center Amphitheater

Are you looking for free summer programs for your children, grandchildren or even yourself? Then the Discovery Center Amphitheater is the place to be! On select Thursday mornings, the amphitheater will play host to a variety of programs geared to all ages.  (In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved into the Discovery Center).

Sundae Bingo

Sunday, July 9 | 1 to 3 PM | Discovery Center

What could be better than ice cream sundaes and bingo!? Join us for this fun-filled Sunday afternoon. Make your own ice cream sundae while shouting out BINGO! Prizes are awarded to winners of every game; every participant eligible for two game winning prizes. All participants will be eligible for the grand prize raffle drawing at the end of the event (must be present to win the raffle). All ages welcome! Registration deadline is July 3. $10 per player.

Summer Concert Series

Select Wednesdays | Concerts begin 7 PM | Walton Park

Bring your friends, family, and lawn chairs to Walton Park for a variety of concerts on Wednesday nights though the summer. You're sure to find a live performance that will fit your musical taste. Free.

Families get ready to watch a movie on the lawn

Movies in the Park

Select Fridays | Movies begin at dusk | Walton Park

Round up the kids, some lawn chairs or a blanket, and enjoy a night under the stars as your favorite movie plays on the big screen at the band shell. Sponsored by the Oakdale Police and Recreation Departments.

Campers play games, create arts and crafts, and participate in special events for each weekly theme.

  • July 17 to 20: Splash Bash at Walton Park South Shelter
  • July 24 to 27: Junior Oakdale Olympics at Oakfield Park

ITS Truck

In The Streets: ITS Truck

The brand new ITS Truck will be in the streets and at a park near you this summer! The ITS Truck will operate Monday to Thursday with two stops per day. These drop-in recreation programs are FREE, and no registration is needed. Check out the new schedule for 2023 at www.oakdalefun.com!

Tie Dye Creation

Kidcreate Studio: Tie Dye Party (Ages 5 to 12)

Friday, July 7 | 1 to 4 PM | Discovery Center

This is a project you don’t want to do at home! Send kids with their own white t-shirt for a day of tie-dying fun. Please pack a drink and nut free snack for your child. Deadline to register is June 30. $48.

Library Story Time "Nature"

Wednesday, July 26 | 10:30 AM | Discovery Center
 
A Washington County Youth Librarian will be visiting for a series of special preschool story times! We’ll have fun talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together. We will focus on concepts such as counting, colors, sharing, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. A simple craft will follow. A free program recommended for developmental ages 0 to 5 and their grown-ups.

Mirabel's world creations

Kidcreate Studio: Mirabel's World (Ages 4 to 9)

Friday, August 4 | 9 AM to 3 PM | Discovery Center
 
Join Mirabel, Isabella, Antonio and the rest of the Madrigals as participants paint, sculpt with air-dry clay and sing along to tunes while creating clay butterflies, bedroom doors, rainforest creatures and more. Please pack a drink and nut free lunch for your child. Deadline to register is July 28. $88.

Girls grooming a horse

Horseback Riding at Bunker Park Stable (Ages 8 to 16)

Friday, August 4 | 10 AM to 2:30 PM | Depart and Return at Discovery Center
 
 Travel to Bunker Park Stable for a day of riding horses. The trip departs from the Discovery Center and includes horseback ride, barn tour, horse grooming and transportation. Participants must be at least eight years old and at least 52 inches tall, no exceptions. You must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes (no shorts or sandals). Bring a nut-free bagged lunch. Space is limited. Registration deadline is July 28. $75.

Nature Preserve Large Shelter

Reserve a picnic shelter for your graduation party, shower, birthday, reunion, or other celebration! Call 651-747-3860 to check availability and make a reservation. Rental fees are due at the time of booking.

Yoga 

Taught by Jennifer Brandt, Registered Yoga Teacher and Certified Yoga Therapist at Body and Mind Yoga Therapy www.bodyandmindyogatherapy.com. 

Develop a strong and flexible spine, increase comfort and mobility in your joints, and build strength and balance in a safe way in this all-levels yoga class. Classes focus on each student's own internal experience rather than achieving an external appearance. Every class will include movement and guided breathing woven together. Most classes will have an element of meditation, chanting, and guided self-exploration.

Friday, July 28 | 11 AM to 2 PM | Discovery Center

Join local artist Sandy Danus of Cheerful Hearts Studio as she leads you through a fun and inviting, acrylic paint class. Learn a new skill and have a great time! All supplies are included and our cheerful, step by step instruction is easy to follow, even if you have never picked up a paint brush before. Come away with your own beautiful finished canvas creation that you can be proud of. Deadline to register is July 21. $30.

Kayaks on the shore

Sturgeon Moon Kayak: Square Lake, Stillwater

Tuesday, August 1 | 7:30 to 9 PM |  Square Lake Park, 15450 Square Lake Trail N, Stillwater, MN 55082

Spend time on the water, and enjoy blueberry muffins and lemonade on shore to celebrate the moon. Kayaks, equipment and life jackets are provided. Bring a flashlight or lantern and bug spray. Dress for the weather and the water. Wear shoes that can get wet. No vehicle permit is required by the park on this date. $30 per person, single kayak for ages 12 and up. Register to kayak before the deadline on July 25. No refunds after this date.

Courts open for play, pending weather conditions | Tanners Lake Park

  • Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday | 9 to 11 AM

Join the Oakdale Pickleball Club for a game of pickleball. All are welcome to join during the open court play. Play is casual, beginners are welcome! Pickleball balls will be provided.
