“Trolls World Tour” Movie in the Park 

Friday, September 3 | Movie begins at dusk | Walton Park
 
Round up the kids, some lawn chairs or a blanket, and enjoy a night under the stars as your favorite movie plays on the big screen at the bandshell. Rain Policy: Decision to cancel will be made by 4 PM on event day. Notice will be posted on website and Facebook. Free.

Touch a Truck

Tuesday, September 7 | 5 to 7 PM | City Hall Parking Lot

Don't miss this unique opportunity where dozens of vehicles will be on hand for children to climb, sit in the driver's seat, touch, view up close, pose for photos, and learn about how various trucks work. Kids of all ages can experience what big trucks are really like. As always, free ice cream treats will be provided! Free.

Oakdale Wellness 50+ Ice Cream Social

Sunday, September 26 | 1 to 3 PM | Discovery Center Large Outdoor Picnic Shelter
 
Bring the family and enjoy an afternoon of ice cream and fun in the park. MikMart Ice Cream and Candy will have a food truck available in the parking area offering a variety of tasty treats ranging from $1 to $6. Games will be available including cornhole toss, ladder golf, bocce ball, croquet and more. In the event of bad weather, the activities will be held in the Discovery Center.

Curious Critters Club (Ages 3 to 6)

Select Friday mornings | 9:30 to 11 AM | Discovery Center

Children participate in nature themed discussions, play games, watch DVDs, and create projects. Register one week prior to class! $0 for residents. $8 per class for nonresidents.

Outdoor Summer Storytime: "Things That Go"

Wednesday, September 29 | 10:30 to 11 AM | Discovery Center Amphitheater

Librarian Megan from the Oakdale Library will be visiting for a series of special preschool story times told while outdoors!
 
We’ll have fun talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together. We will focus on concepts such as counting, colors, sharing, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. A simple "take and make" craft will be sent home. Free.

Wednesdays through October 13 | 2 – 6:30 PM | City Hall Parking Lot

Purchase locally grown products that promote healthy lifestyles, while sustaining local agriculture at the Oakdale Farmers Market. Pick up a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, a bouquet of flowers, a loaf of bread, dessert, and so much more! Check out the Community Booth to see what is happening locally, and enter your name for a chance to win the Vendors Variety Gift Basket. This is the vendors' way of saying thank you for supporting the community and local businesses.

Forest Therapy Walks

Saturdays, September 4 or 18 | 10 AM to 12 PM | Oakdale Nature Preserve

What is Forest Therapy? Forest Therapy, or “forest bathing,” is a research-based framework for supporting healing and wellness through immersion in forests and other natural environments. Studies have demonstrated a wide array of health benefits, especially in the cardiovascular and immune systems, and for stabilizing and improving mood and cognition. Forest therapy walks are slow-paced and are leisurely guided through nature by certified forest therapy guides. Attend in-person or virtually. Spots are limited, masks can be worn (subject to applicable federal/state/local mask mandate guidelines), and please arrive early for in-person. $20 per class (50% discount for frontline workers).

Oakdale Wellness 50+ Flu Shot Clinic

Monday, September 13 | 11:30 AM to 2 PM | Discovery Center
 
Get your flu shot. The best way to protect yourself from the flu. Walgreens and Oakdale Wellness 50+ have partnered to bring a flu shot clinic to the Oakdale Discovery Center.
 
There is no cost to you with most insurance. Bring your insurance card and photo ID, and complete the assessment/consent form in advance to save time.
 
Appointments suggested. Walk-ins allowed. Please wear a mask if not fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

First Aid Kit

Oakdale Wellness 50+ First Aid, Hands-Only CPR Plus AED Instruction

Thursdays, September 23 | 6 to 7:30 PM | Discovery Center
 
This free Wellness 50+ event (for ages 16+) will include:

  1. First Aid
  2. Hands-Only CPR Training, including AED instructions
  3. Blood pressure checks available
  4. Learn how to help a choking person

 
Session will be taught by paramedics from the Oakdale Fire Department.
