Snow Sculpture ContestSubmit your snow sculpture now through March 31, 2021
Calling all creative Oakdale residents. Do you have what it takes to create the best snow sculpture in town? If so, head outside any time after a snowfall, and start constructing your masterpiece. All sculptures are judged on appearance, relative to the season’s theme.
This year’s theme is “Everyday Heroes”
Winner receives a $100 Target Gift Card! Please submit photo entries by March 31. The winner will be contacted on April 1 by Oakdale Recreation.

Snowshoe RentalsRentals available by appointment (pending snow conditions) | Discovery Center
Oakdale Recreation is happy to continue offering snowshoe rentals during the Discovery Center closure by appointment at these times: Monday through Friday (pending snow conditions & excluding holidays), 9 AM - 4 PM. Take your family and friends snowshoeing in the 220 acres of the Oakdale Nature Preserve. Watch for animal tracks, deer, fox, and birds, even snowshoe angels! Sizes available for both children and adults. $5 for two hours.

Ice RinksScheduled to open late December (weather permitting) | Eastside, Northdale, and Walton Parks
Ice rinks will be flooded for skating during the facilities closure. Warming houses will be closed through January 31.

Read a story, while taking a stroll through the Oakdale Nature Preserve with your kids! Story Strolls are free, self-guided, and brought to you in partnership with Washington County Libraries. It is a great way to enjoy the park, practice social distancing, and enjoy a great book!

KidCreate Take Home Art KitsOrder now through January 31 | Discovery Center Pickup (Monday through Friday, 8 to 4:30 PM) | Elementary aged kids, but with adult supervision, kits can also be used for preschoolers
At home art kits with online instructional videos are now available from Kidcreate Studio! The kit contains an easy to follow lesson plan, a link to a correlating online instructional video taught by a Kidcreate Studio art teacher, art materials needed to create one fridge-worthy masterpiece and additional suggestions for online learning that relate to the art lesson. Art Kits to choose from: - Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights mixed media masterpiece)
- NYE Snow Globe (A New Year theme snow globe made with clay, glitter and beads)
- Clay Coil Bowl (Use a special clay technique to build a unique creation)
After you've placed your order, kits will be available for pick up the following week beginning on Wednesday. $15 per kit.
