Minnesota Housing Fix Up Loan Program
Tackle your home improvement to-do list without breaking your budget with a Fix Up Loan.

What you can do with the loan?

Do you qualify?
- You must own and occupy the property to be improved.
- Single family homes, duplexes, triplexes and fourplexes are eligible.
- Your gross income must be no greater than [insert max for area: $156,800 (11-county metro, Dodge and Olmsted Counties); $139,200 (All other counties)]. The income limit is waived if the improvement is being made for the accessibility of a family member who is disabled or for specific energy improvements.

Washington County CDA Programs
The Washington County Community Development Agency (CDA) administers a number of loan programs that can help residents finance critical home improvements. These funds can be used to help make homes safer and more energy efficient including roof replacement, plumbing and electrical, accommodating a resident's physical disability and correcting building code violations. These programs have income restrictions and vary by program.

Hiring a Contractor
If you are planning to hire a contractor to work on your home, first read through the Home Building and Remodeling Handbook produced by the Minnesota Attorney General’s office. The handbook will help you to be an informed consumer. The handbook provides guidelines for selecting a contractor and writing a home improvement contract, and highlights Minnesota’s mechanic’s lien law.
